Best overall rose of the year for Territorio Luthier clarete de guarda, reserva 2020
Best white wine of Ribera del Duero for Territorio Luthier blanco de guarda, reserva 2020
We are very grateful to Tim Atkin since his recognition means a great endorsement for us. Since we started in 2008 we have believed that in Ribera we could make elegant, fresh and aged wines like our Territorio Luthier reserva. We are committed to use Quercus Pyrenaica for aging in our Hispania wines since 2009. We have the most profound conviction that Ribera whites can be at the level of any white and have great aging capacity.
For us, claretes mean the tradition of our grandparents, it is wine that has been made in Ribera for ages, and we have special affection and a lot of respect for this wine. That’s why we treat roses like any great wine, making aged reserva clarete, a delicacy that has also impressed Tim Atkin.
We have been making white wines with Albillo Mayor and Claretes since 2018, the year in which we inaugurated the new facilities, being in 2019 when the commercialization of the whites was approved by the D.O. Ribera del Duero.

Tasting Notes by Tim Atkins
Bodegas Territorio Luthier Blanco de Guarda 2020
Reserve (13.5%)
The sort of wine that makes you burst into the broadest of smiles, this age-worthy white is a
marvel. Based on Albillo Mayor, with lesser contributions from Malvasía, Pirulés and Viura,
sourced from 90-year-old plus vineyards between 890 and 1004 metres in Aranda de Duero
and Zazuar, it spent 14 hours on skins before fermentation in Hungarian barrels. Struck
match, hay and mountain herb aromas of thyme and oregano are a prelude to a structured,
intense, focused white with a hint of rock salt and a core of citrus and green fig flavours.
Stunning. 2024-30
Bodegas Territorio Luthier Clarete de Guarda 2020
Reserve (14.5%)
“We want people to talk about Ribera del Duero’s claretes,” says Cristina Alonso, and they’ll
certainly do so if they taste this brilliant, age-worthy example that ranks alongside the
best in Spain. Made with an equal mix of nine red and white varieties from high-altitude
vineyards in Aranda de Duero, Gumiel de Mercado, La Horra and Zazuar, it’s a racy, focused,
intense rosado, with subtle American oak ageing, pomegranate, passion fruit and redcurrant
flavours and savoury tannins. Truly outstanding. 2024-30
Bodegas Territorio Luthier 2018
Reserve (14%)
No fewer than 17 small parcels, located in Aranda de Duero, La Horra and Zazuar contribute
to this blend of Tinto Fino with 10% Garnacha. First made in 2016, it’s another superb
wine from Fernando Ortiz, with lots of energy, zip and focus, spicy Hungarian oak, filigree
tannins, layers of bramble, goji berry and pomegranate fruit and a thread of minerality.
Delicious. 2023-30
Bodegas Territorio Luthier Hispania 2020
Cosecha (15%)
Territorio Luthier is one of two bodegas in Ribera del Duero that’s working with native
Spanish Quercus pyrenaica barrels. And very successfully too, given that this cuvée of Tinto
Fino with 15% Garnacha and 3% Albillo Mayor is the winery’s biggest seller. Spicy fresh and
red-fruited, it’s a typically nuanced red from Fernando Ortiz with wild herb top notes and
tangy, grapefruity acidity. 2024-30
