Once again, in our winery Territorio Luthier we present you the new vintages of our Reds and Claretes D.O. Ribera del Duero.
The new reds are LARA O Crianza 2019, TERRITORIO LUTHIER Reserva 2018 and HISPANIA 2019 and on the claret side, we present LARA O Clarete Crianza 2020 and TERRITORIO LUTHIER Clarete de Guarda 2018.
LARA O Crianza 2019, the latest vintage of what was the first wine we produced more than ten years ago. Of this 2019 vintage, 10,485 bottles of Tempranillo and Garnacha are released on the market, making it a “cheerful and balanced” crianza wine.
As for the rest of the wines, the grapes come from the manual harvest of vineyards of more than 50-70 years old located in the surroundings of Aranda de Duero (Burgos), in this case, from Aranda itself, La Horra and Gumiel del Mercado, which are worked with sustainable agriculture. In our winery we aim to recover small vineyards of old vines for their production. Characteristic of these wines is their fermentation with autochthonous yeasts in concrete tanks and that they carry out a malolactic fermentation in a natural way.
In the case of this Crianza, it was aged in 225-liter American, Hungarian and French oak barrels for 12 months and another 8 months in concrete tanks. The rest of the time it has remained in the bottle to round off a wine that is already silky and fruity.
From this same vintage, 2019 also sees the release of HISPANIA 2019, an iconic wine that highlights the place that 100% Spanish wines can occupy among the great international wines. Made mostly with Tempranillo, the native grape of Ribera del Duero, it also has Garnacha and Albillo Mayor. HISPANIA is a wine that is aged in Spanish oak barrels (Quercus Pyrenaica) for 18 months and for a further 6 months in concrete tanks, also Spanish, where it previously underwent both fermentations. This wine, with cork and bottle and label also Spanish, is marketed in 10,526 numbered bottles that reveal the nuances and depth of the terroir. The character of Spanish oak and the personality it infers are reflected in this wine, sober and aromatic, with earthy characters at their best.
The last red wine presented is TERRITORIO LUTHIER Reserva 2018. The flagship wine of our winery, with which it shares its name and which exalts our winemaking philosophy: “Wines for cellaring made with patience and tradition”. Of this vintage, 6,600 numbered bottles are released. An elegant, delicate and tremendously fine wine that is ready for consumption but promises a cellaring capacity of 25 years. The grapes used are 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha from small vineyards over 70 years old. This Reserva has spent 28 months in Hungarian, French and American Cantonese oak barrels, plus another 8 months in concrete tanks. A full-bodied, yet delicate and intense Reserva, with perfectly balanced tannins that give it length and freshness.

In addition to these red wines, there are two claretes, with which we intend to recover the most traditional wines of Ribera del Duero and demonstrate their versatility and cellaring capacity. LARA O Clarete Crianza 2020, 1,998 bottles of a claret made from a blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Albillo Mayor, produced in concrete tanks after direct pressing. To complete its elaboration, it is aged in American oak barrels for 6 months and the rest of the time in bottle, balancing the freshness and fruitiness with the elegance and length of the wood.

And finally TERRITORIO LUTHIER Clarete de Guarda 2018, a limited edition of only 698 bottles destined for the menus of the most sybaritic restaurants. A wine praised by national and international sommeliers, which presents something different beyond a rosé. A fresh, long, elegant claret, with good acidity, very complex and balanced that stands out for its floral, spicy and mineral tones. A wine that has spent 24 months in American oak barrels and has rested the rest of the time in bottle until it is now released on the market in the year in which Aranda de Duero, the town in Burgos where it is made, is the European City of Wine.

Soon we will also launch the new vintages of our whites, LARA O Blanco Crianza 2020 and TERRITORIO LUTHIER Blanco de Guarda 2019, which since their creation have been a benchmark of this new “white Ribera del Duero” and whose previous vintages have been sold out for several months.
